Day 1: Check out the French Quarter
You’re likely to arrive in New Orleans at midday. Check-in to your hotel and head to the historic Tremé neighborhood for a bowl of gumbo at Dooky Chase’s.
Next, head to the French Quarter to shop and walk away for the rest of your afternoon. Take lots of photos of the brightly colored architecture and make sure you swing by the St. Louis Cathedral in Jackson Square.
Cap off your evening with dinner in the French Quarter. I recommend Arnaud’s Restaurant or Brennan’s. After dinner, grab a cocktail (or mocktail) at the dimly lit and utterly romantic Sylvain.
Day 2: Visit the Garden District
Start your morning with world-famous beignets from Cafe du Monde on Decatur Street.
From there, travel to the Garden District to admire the incredible estates lining the leafy avenues. While in the Garden District, make sure to visit Lafayette Cemetery No. 1 for a uniquely New Orleans experience.
No trip to New Orleans would be complete without a stop at Cafe Amelie for lunch in their sun-dappled courtyard (do not sleep on the crab cakes).
After dinner, I recommend heading to Frenchman Street for incredible live music. The Spotted Cat Music Club is the spot to be.
Day 3: Willie Mae’s Scotch House & New Orleans City Park
The South is known for its fried chicken, and in my opinion, there is no better-fried chicken than what you’ll find at Willie Mae’s Scotch House. To avoid long wait times, queue up well before they open at 11 a.m.
After lunch, before heading to the airport, rent a 2-person bike from Wheel Fun Rentals at New Orleans City Park. There’s no more fun way to explore the park than on a tandem!
